What We Do
VAEOPP aims to increase access to college, graduate school, and professional school by providing the following services:
About VAEOPP
VAEOPP’s member institutions provide grant aid and researched based direct services to their respective program participants that effectively improve secondary school graduation rates, increase college matriculation, persistence and degree completion rates.
Increasing College Access
VAEOPP’s member organizations take a number of steps to increase college access and affordability.
Professional Development
VAEOPP provides professional development to TRIO professionals through our conferences and mentoring.
Fair Share
VAEOPP encourages member institutions to contribute their “fair share” by paying their membership dues.
Scholarships
Many of our individual programs, as well as our state association, provide need based scholarships.
Tutoring & Workshops
VAEOPP provides direct services to program participants though tutoring, counseling, workshops, and seminars.
Advocacy
We encourage Congressional representatives to advocate for TRIO participants by inviting them to visit their campus.
Membership Institutions
In 2019, Virginia received roughly $17M in federal TRIO grants to serve 15,588 eligible constituents across the Commonwealth at either the pre-college or college level. The full list of our programs and their contact information can be found on the Documents/Resources page.
